“YOU HAVE BUT
ONE CHANCE TO CREATE A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION”
Let the sun
shine in – Light and bright are important! Open drapes,
blinds and shutters; operable light bulbs are essential;
have lamps on at all times for the warm glow; porch lights
and lamps on in the evening are great for prospects
canvassing neighborhoods.
I love the
flower girl – Fresh, potted with blooms or a bud vase with
single stem create a positive effect and an immediately
catch the eye.
Fruit of
the Spirit – What is it about a bowl of fruit that gives
your home a welcoming feel? A bowl of lemons or limes can
create an aura of going the extra mile for your prospective
purchaser.
Music hath
charms to soothe the savage beast – Classical Rules! Not
too loud, too twangy or too reverberating.
On the
street where you live – Curb appeal is a must! Invest on the
outside to create a showing inside!
Freshly-mowed lawn, manicured flowerbeds, shiny front door
with fresh doormat and at least one pot of flowers, crisp
street numbers, clean shutters and windows are a ticket to
success of your sale.
The
handyman can – Repair anything that might suggest a drip,
leak or crack…corroded faucets can be replaced
inexpensively; updated fixtures, faucets, lighting suggest a
well-maintained home.
Clean,
clean and clean again! You hear the term “move-in
ready” – Vacuum yourself out the door it will be worth it!
“It’s about
breaking through the CLUTTER” – Aren’t you moving? Why
not have the garage sale before you begin marketing your
home? Clear off refrigerator door, organize family photos
(it’s about the house, not the people); exercise the
clean-closet rule-must see lots of floor space with
neatly-arranged shoes ( if they are dusty, you’re not using
them-have another sale); remove empty hangers-space the
rest; REMEMBER, buyers are looking for more storage than
they now have; ditto the pantry, hall closet, broom closet,
bedrooms closets, garage closet, ALL closets, drawers and
cabinets!
“The Song
of the Rose is heard with the Nose” – All aromas are not
created equally…pet smells are unappealing, smoking in the
home is a no-no, candles and room sprays need to be used
with caution, clean and fresh fragrances are appealing, but
overly-scented ones are not.
